The Independence Knights will take on the Centennial Titans at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Having struggled with four defeats in a row, Independence turned things around against Lebanon Trail on Tuesday. They blew past the Trail Blazers 13-3.
Avery Hillier made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Hillier was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. That stolen base was her first of the season.

In other batting news, McKinley Roberts and Megan McCadden did most of the damage at the plate: Roberts went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI, while McCadden went 3-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Those three hits gave Roberts a new career-high. Avery McReynolds was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Independence always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .586. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lebanon Trail only posted an OBP of .391.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Centennial). They were the clear victors by a 21-7 margin over Heritage on Tuesday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest win of the season.
Centennial's victory bumped their record up to 6-10. As for Independence, their win bumped their record up to 3-12-1.
Independence came up short against Centennial in their previous meeting back in February, falling 19-15. Will the Knights have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
