Basketball Game Preview: Avon Park Red Devils vs. Sebring Blue Streaks

Avon Park hasn't had much luck against Sebring recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Avon Park Red Devils will challenge the Sebring Blue Streaks at 7:30 p.m. Avon Park is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 66.8 points per game this season.

Avon Park is headed into the match out to prove that what happened against Bartow on Tuesday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Avon Park took a blow against Bartow, falling 80-44. While losing is never fun, the Red Devils can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 218th, while the Yellow Jackets are ranked 101st).

Avon Park might have lost, but man, Christopher Kelly was a machine: he dropped a double-double on 20 points and 17 rebounds. That's the most points Kelly has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Jose Silva, who posted eight points and six boards.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Sebring, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They walked away with a 63-50 victory over Kathleen on Tuesday.

Avon Park's defeat dropped their record down to 18-3. As for Sebring, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-11 record this season.

Avon Park didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Sebring in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, but they still walked away with a 57-52 win. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Sebring's David Allen, who went 8 for 18 en route to 22 points.
