Basketball Recap: Kingsland Wins Going Away Against Mabel-Canton

Kingsland won the last time they faced Mabel-Canton and things went their way on Friday too. The Kingsland Knights put the hurt on the Mabel-Canton Cougars with a sharp 77-57 victory. The Knights have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Max Erdman, who dropped a double-double on 32 points and 14 boards. That's the most points he has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Parker Johnson, who went 9 for 19 on his way to 21 points.

Despite the loss, Mabel-Canton still got an impressive performance from Darian Hershberger, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 11 rebounds. Kale Eiken was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Kingsland has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Mabel-Canton, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-9 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kingsland will head out to take on Lanesboro at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Kingsland is coming into the contest hot, having won their last three games. As for Mabel-Canton, they are taking a road trip to face off against Southland at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Southland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
