Brighton extended their losing streak to 13 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-20. They came up short against the Alta Hawks, falling 17-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Hawks this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-1 two weeks ago.
Cynthia Knowlton made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in all three of her plate appearances with two stolen bases, one run, and one double.
As for Alta, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-13 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games.
On Alta's side, Danica Doyle made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Doyle has posted since back in March. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in two of her four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Brielle Watson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. June Sylvia was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.
Looking ahead, Brighton will square off against Skyline at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.33 runs per game on average), something the Bengals will no doubt try to take advantage of. Alta does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
