The Milford Tigers will venture away from home to face off against the South Sevier Rams at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Milford will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
On Friday, Milford got the win against Parowan by a conclusive 12-2. Considering the Tigers have won 11 matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Toby LaOrange was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. LaOrange was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Milford got a massive performance out of Kilo Tsosie, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI Tsosie has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Griffin Walker, who scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, South Sevier fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Kanab on Friday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Cowboys by a score of 7-6. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Cowboys recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Peyton Ingram was cooking despite his team's loss, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with one home run and two RBI. Bigs Northrup was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.
South Sevier's defeat dropped their record down to 15-5. As for Milford, their record now sits at 14-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Milford has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like South Sevier struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Milford couldn't quite get it done against South Sevier when the teams last played back in April of 2024 as they fell 9-6. Can the Tigers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
