Palmer is 1-0 against Gateway since October of 2022, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Palmer Terrors will be playing at home against the Gateway Olympians at 6:00 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Colorado (Palmer is ranked 172nd, while Gateway is ranked 170th).
After some red-hot offensive attacks in their last three match, Palmer finally came back down to earth on Friday. They were the victim of a rough 27-7 defeat at the hands of Widefield. The match was a 7-7 toss-up at halftime, but Palmer couldn't answer the 20 points Widefield scored afterwards.
Palmer's defeat came about despite a quality game from Dyson Sharpton, who rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Sharpton's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards.
Meanwhile, Gateway got themselves on the board against Hinkley on Friday, but Hinkley never followed suit. They blew past the Thunderbirds 69-0 on the road.
Knyle Serrell continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 122 yards and four touchdowns on only seven carries, while also throwing for 169 yards and two touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Andre Romain, who picked up 132 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
With Palmer's loss and Gateway's victory, both teams now sport identical 2-6 records.
Everything came up roses for Palmer against Gateway in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 54-18 victory. Does Palmer have another victory up their sleeve, or will Gateway turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
