4A Region 1 recap October 8, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 4A Region 1 this week, Corinth beat Pontotoc 28-2. The victory was the fifth in a row for the team.
The Warriors fell to Corinth 28-2 last week, the largest margin of any game.
Jackson Haines was the best receiver in the league this week as Tishomingo County fell to Shannon. Haines tallied 5 receptions for 58 yards. Brannon Gamble helped Tishomingo County's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 33 yards.
Tishomingo County's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Braves feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Blake Hawkins has thrown for 1,057 yards and 14 touchdowns this season, while Gamble has 17 catches for 391 yards. Hawkins also leads the league in rushing with 607 yards.
One of 4A Region 1's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Braves and Doug Jones' team face off next week.
The Warriors are in first place, while Tishomingo County is in fourth place.
