The Ruidoso Warriors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They took a 64-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tularosa. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Logan Sandoval and Augustine Saiz certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Sandoval dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 steals, while Saiz scored 18 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. Sandoval is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Patrick Kimbrell, who scored seven points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Ruidoso's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Tularosa, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ruidoso will take on Hatch Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Tularosa won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Socorro at 3:00 p.m. on January 13th. Socorro will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New Mexico Rankings (they are ranked 81st, while Tularosa is ranked 16th).
