Baseball Game Preview: Henley Hornets vs. Phoenix Pirates

For the second straight game, Henley will face off against Phoenix. The Hornets will challenge the Pirates at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Henley will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak.

On Wednesday, Henley got the win against Phoenix by a conclusive 17-4. The Hornets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by seven runs or more this season.

Corbin Hamilton made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.

In other batting news, Henley got a massive performance out of Mark Carpenter, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Beau Pyle, who went 1-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

Henley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2024.

Henley pushed their record up to 8-2-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Phoenix, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season.
