Basketball Game Preview: Galesburg Christian Lions vs. Quad Cities Christian Eagles

Galesburg Christian is 1-9 against Quad Cities Christian since February of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Galesburg Christian Lions will take on the Quad Cities Christian Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Galesburg Christian took a loss when they played away from home back in December of 2024, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed back in December of 2024. They enjoyed a cozy 42-25 win over East Moline Christian.

Galesburg Christian can attribute much of their success to Isaac Movida, who posted 22 points and five steals, and Malachi Barker, who earned 13 points and eight steals. Barker is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Ryan Walker, who had two points in addition to seven rebounds and three blocks.

Meanwhile, Quad Cities Christian came tearing into Monday's match with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 39.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 65-13 blowout they got against Varsity Opponent. The Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 27 points or more this season.

Galesburg Christian better keep an eye on Immanuel Anderson. He was instrumental in Quad Cities Christian's win, going 6 of 12 on his way to 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tanner Garant, who posted eight points.

Quad Cities Christian pushed their record up to 8-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.9 points per game. As for Galesburg Christian, the win got them back to even at 4-4.

Galesburg Christian was taken down by Quad Cities Christian 73-24 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Galesburg Christian was down 38-11.
