Baseball Recap: Kingsford Extends Winning Streak to Three

Kingsford waltzed into their contest on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They never let the Iron Mountain Mountaineers get on the board and left with a 12-0 win. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-0 on May 5th.

Andres Finley was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Nolan Hendrickson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. He has become a key player for Kingsford: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Gavin Trevillian, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Kingsford hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matches.

Kingsford's victory bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Iron Mountain, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Kingsford will venture away from home to take on Norway at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Iron Mountain, they will square off against Gladstone at 2:00 p.m. on the 30th.
