The result was an unpleasant reminder to Sussex Central of the 67-20 defeat they experienced in the two teams' previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2023.
Cape Henlopen found their leader in underclassman Amalia Fruchtman, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and two blocks. Fruchtman hasn't dropped below 16 points for seven straight games. Jurnee White was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with three steals.
Sussex Central's loss was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12. As for Cape Henlopen, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season.
Sussex Central won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Seahawks at 4:00 p.m. on February 2nd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Delaware (Sussex Academy is ranked 51st, while the Golden Knights are ranked 50th). As for Cape Henlopen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against the Buccaneers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
