Softball Recap: Mascoutah Picks Up Fourth Straight Win at Home

Mascoutah hadn't done well against Highland recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Indians walked away with a 13-8 victory over the Bulldogs. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Mascoutah let Harper Whitworth and Callie Kunz run wild. Whitworth went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Kunz went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Whitworth a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bailey Seibert, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Mascoutah was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They are 9-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Mascoutah pushed their record up to 14-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Highland, they are on a 15-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-20.

Looking ahead, Mascoutah will venture away from home to face off against Carbondale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Highland, they will host Belleville West at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
