The Bowie Volunteers had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against South Grand Prairie and snuck past 24-21. This was payback for Bowie, who suffered a 33-13 defeat the last time these two teams met.
It was another big night for Darrion Bowers, who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown. Bowers is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last six games he's played. Khalil Stolden got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Despite the loss, South Grand Prairie still got an impressive performance from Iantavion Williams, who picked up 114 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Bowie's win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. Admittedly, the team didn't face the toughest opposition across those games, namely South Grand Prairie, Grand Prairie, and Royse City. As for South Grand Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 3-6.
Coincidentally, Bowie and South Grand Prairie will both be playing Lamar the next time they take the field. Bowie will host Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while South Grand Prairie will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on November 2nd.
