The Regents Knights posted their biggest victory since December 16, 2023 on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 64-26 win over Savio at home. Given Regents' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 408th, while Savio is ranked 1201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Matthew Blood, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds. Blood is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Espinoza, who scored 11 points.
Regents' win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 17-10. As for Savio, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-14 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Regents will take on St. Michael's at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in St. Michael's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 18 matches. As for Savio, they will head out on the road to challenge Hyde Park at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
