Pleasant View Christian is 1-6 against Clarksville Christian since November of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The two teams will face off at 6:00 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Pleasant View Christian will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Clarksville Christian is ranked 20th).
On Friday, Pleasant View Christian was beaten by Christian Community 54-22. Pleasant View Christian has not had much luck with Christian Community recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Pleasant View Christian's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Gwen Carr, who scored ten points, and Hollynn Carney who scored nine points. Carr scored a full 45.5% of Pleasant View Christian's points, the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, Clarksville Christian pushed their score all the way to 57 on Saturday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Lutheran 63-57. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (56), Clarksville Christian still had to take the loss.
Despite the defeat, Clarksville Christian got a solid performance out of Lauren Hassell, who scored 34 points along with nine rebounds. Hassell continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Marley Spiers, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds.
Pleasant View Christian now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Clarksville Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 7-3.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pleasant View Christian have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 15.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Clarksville Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 27.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pleasant View Christian took a serious blow against Clarksville Christian in their previous meeting back in November, falling 59-13. Can Pleasant View Christian avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
