It was a good run, but the Poly Engineers unfortunately witnessed the end of their 14-game winning streak on Wednesday. They fell to McDonogh 55-50. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Poly in their matchups with the Eagles: they've now lost four in a row.
When it comes to explaining why Poly lost, one person who can't be blamed is Mickelle Lowry. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Lowry has scored all season. C. Mills was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Poly's loss ended a 15-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-1. As for McDonogh, they pushed their record up to 19-4 with that win, which was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season.
Poly will square off against the Bayhawks at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Benjamin Franklin will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 156th, while the Engineers are ranked 16th). As for McDonogh, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Reds at 5:30 p.m.
