The Woodward Polar Bears's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight defeat. They were the victim of a rough 68-48 defeat at the hands of Springfield. Woodward was down 52-31 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Springfield had a senior duo take command as Aaron Adams scored 11 points along with three steals and Drew Martin scored eight points along with seven rebounds and three steals. It was the first time this season that Martin grabbed two or more steals. Another player making a difference was Brandon Lawniczak, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Woodward's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Springfield, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-13.
Woodward will challenge St. Francis de Sales at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Woodward is coming into the match with six straight losses on the road, meaning St. Francis de Sales will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Springfield, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Ross at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Springfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Tuesday.
