This season hasn't been kind to the Holmes Bulldogs, who are still winless after their sixth game. They fell to Belfry 64-59. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Belfry found their leader in underclassman Zade Rash, who scored 21 points along with five assists and three steals. Those 21 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Makaden Maynard, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds and three blocks.
Holmes' loss dropped their record down to 0-6. As for Belfry, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Holmes won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Expression Prep Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. One thing working in Expression Prep Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. Belfry will finish 2023 at home by hosting Paintsville at 8:00 p.m. on Friday. Paintsville is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
