Christian Heritage Academy is 2-7 against Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy since April of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Knights will take on the Ospreys in a tournament on Friday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Christian Heritage Academy comes in on four and Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy on six.
While Christian Heritage Academy's win against Temple Christian wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Knights sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-2 victory over the Crusaders on Monday.
Jake Bowles made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over 4.1 innings pitched. Bowles was also big at the plate, earning one RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

Bowles wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Dylan Mullins, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Mullins is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played.
Meanwhile, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy never let their opponents score on Monday. They put the hurt on United Christian Academy with a sharp 19-0 win. The Ospreys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.
Robert Roberson looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits.
On the hitting side, Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Peyton Conley, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Conley is becoming a predictor of the Ospreys' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-6 when he doesn't). Greg Ghoorahoo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs.
Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in six consecutive games.
Christian Heritage Academy's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 13-6.
Friday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Christian Heritage Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like Smith Mountain Lake Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .483. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
