The Stony Point Tigers typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the Harker Heights Knights proved too difficult a challenge. Harker Heights came out on top against Stony Point by a score of 38-31. The victory was all the more spectacular given Harker Heights' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Stony Point is ranked 118th).
Stony Point's loss came despite strong showings from Naomi Ofunrein and Mary Bortels. Ofunrein scored 15 points along with 8 rebounds and 5 steals, while Bortels scored 8 points along with 10 rebounds. Ofunrein scored a full 48.4% of Stony Point's points, the sixth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Harker Heights' win bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Stony Point, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harker Heights is on the road again on Friday and play against Alief Hastings at 1:30 p.m. on December 1st. As for Stony Point, they will take on Hutto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
