The Holyoke Dragons suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 72-38 loss at the hands of Wray. Holyoke was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-21.
Holyoke's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Ellie Kleve, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 14 rebounds, and Anessa Colglazier who scored five points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Colglazier has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played.
Wray had a senior duo take command as Sharon Greek scored 11 points along with five assists and two steals and Sydnee Cheek scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Cheek continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabelle Gillham, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Holyoke has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-7 record this season. As for Wray, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 6-6.
Holyoke will head out on the road to square off against Perkins County at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Wray, Wray and Y will face off at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Y is looking to tack on another W to their three-game streak on the road.
