Harlan came tearing into Friday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Bell County Bobcats with a sharp 12-1 win. The Green Dragons might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 11 matches by eight runs or more this season.
Jordyn Smith made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, Addison Jackson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Ava Nunez was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Harlan was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .531. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Harlan pushed their record up to 14-5 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Bell County, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Harlan will take on Shelby Valley at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Bell County, they will face off against Berea at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
