2A Blue Mountain recap October 1, 2013
Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A Blue Mountain this week, Stanfield beat Union 74-26. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Grant Union made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 5,902 from 6,649. The advance stemmed from a 48-0 victory over Weston-McEwen/Griswold last week.
Heppner's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Kaden Clark threw for 66 yards and Brian Rill had 28 yards receiving. On the ground Rill contributed 169 yards. Jordan Bailey helped Heppner's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 22 yards.
Rill provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Mustangs topped Enterprise. Rill's key target this week was Rill, who caught 2 passes for 28 yards.
Rill was the most successful running back in the league this week. He ran for 169 yards on 26 carries as Heppner defeated the Outlaws. Tommy Bredfield also contributed to the rushing game with 38 yards on the ground.
Heppner's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Mustangs feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Clark has thrown for 551 yards and 9 touchdowns this season, while Jesse Corbin has 13 catches for 172 yards.
An important game coming up in the league this week will be when Irrigon takes on Stanfield. The Knights are in fourth place, while Jay Zwieselhoffer's team is in first place.
The Tigers led 2A Blue Mountain in scoring this week after putting up 74 points on the Bobcats.
