Pittston let Elijah Barr and Zach Budzak run wild. Barr got on base in all five of his plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one triple, while Budzak went 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Budzak a new career-high. Dom Salvo was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Pittston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Dallas, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over Crestwood on Monday. That 11-run margin sets a new team best for the Mountaineers this season.
Dominick Zangardi made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Zangardi was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other pitching news, Luca Pietraccini looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, Max Scatton was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. Peyton Vanvalkenburg also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Pittston's record is now 6-0. As for Dallas, their record now sits at 4-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Wednesday. Pittston hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.5 home runs per game. However, it's not like Dallas struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.8 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Everything went Pittston's way against Dallas when the teams last played back in May of 2025, as Pittston made off with a 16-6 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Patriots since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
