The Excel Christian Academy Spartans waltzed into their contest on Thursday with eight straight wins but they left with nine. They were the clear victor by a 80-54 margin over All Saints' Academy. Excel Christian Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 26 points or more this season.
Excel Christian Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was William Medina out in front who scored 20 points along with seven assists and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeremy Russell, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Despite the loss, All Saints' Academy still got an impressive performance from Claudarius Bell, who scored 21 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Jaelen Randall, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Excel Christian Academy's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.8 points per game. As for All Saints' Academy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Excel Christian Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Lions at 4:30 p.m. on January 26th. Hillsborough Baptist will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 750th, while the Spartans are ranked 257th). As for All Saints' Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
