Pinecrest is 9-1 against Union Pines since December of 2017, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Pinecrest Patriots will head out on the road to square off against the Union Pines Vikings at 6:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to post seven more assists than your opponent, a fact Pinecrest proved on Friday. They came out on top against Hoke County by a score of 64-53.
Zanodiya Mcnair was her usual excellent self, scoring 24 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Depenbrock, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Union Pines scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 73-14 victory over Southern Lee. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 47-4.
Pinecrest pushed their record up to 5-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for Union Pines, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 9-7.
Pinecrest strolled past Union Pines when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a score of 68-52. The rematch might be a little tougher for Pinecrest since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
