Post Falls is on a three-game streak of home losses dating back to last season, and Lewiston a five-game streak of away losses also dating back to last season. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Saturday. The Post Falls Trojans will take on the Lewiston Bengals at 12:00 p.m. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Post Falls 3, Lewiston 3.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Post Falls was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last match, but they sure didn't let that happen against Rigby on Saturday. Post Falls was the clear victor by a 7-1 margin over Rigby. Post Falls not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 16, 2024.
Caden Reese made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Reese was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kyler Cooley was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Ayden Carrasco, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Lewiston didn't have quite enough to beat Lake City on Tuesday and fell 4-3. That's two games in a row now that the Bengals have lost by just one run.
Lewiston also got a good showing from Grady Kennedy, who pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Kennedy has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lewiston saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Peterson, who went 1-for-3 with one double.
Lewiston's loss dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Post Falls, the win got them back to even at 2-2.
