It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Trenton had no problem doing just that on Wednesday. They beat the Chiefland Indians by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 11-4. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 matches by six runs or more this season.
Mason VunCannon made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs.
In other batting news, Ty Moses was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Jordan Marlo was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
The win was the fourth in a row for Trenton, bringing their record up to 22-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Chiefland, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-12.
Trenton has already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Fort Meade on the 5th. Chiefland does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
