The Crofton Warriors will head out on the road to face off against the Niobrara/Verdigre Cougars on Thursday. Crofton is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.
On Tuesday, Crofton was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 53-47 to Cedar Catholic.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Trevor Allen, who scored 15 points. Those 15 points set a new season-high mark for he. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Pinkelman, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Niobrara/Verdigre, who are still winless after their fifth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 51-16 loss at the hands of Bloomfield. Niobrara/Verdigre was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-2.
Crofton now has a losing record at 2-3. As for Niobrara/Verdigre, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.
Everything went Crofton's way against Niobrara/Verdigre in their previous meeting back in January as Crofton made off with a 56-32 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Crofton since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
