Basketball Recap: Floydada Skates Past Post with Ease

Floydada won the last time they faced Post and things went their way on Friday too. The Floydada Whirlwinds took their matchup with ease, bagging a 93-44 victory over the Post Antelopes. Given the Whirlwinds' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 465th, while the Antelopes are ranked 1379th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Floydada's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Tyrean Henderson led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 30 points and nine boards. With that strong performance, Henderson is now averaging an impressive 16 points per game. The team also got some help courtesy of Sergio Valadez, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and ten steals.

Floydada smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Floydada is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 17-9 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.9 points per game. As for Post, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-9.

Floydada will be playing at home against Tahoka at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Floydada knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matches -- so hopefully Tahoka likes a good challenge. As for Post, they will venture away from home to take on New Home at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
