The Ballard Memorial Bombers gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They blew past Cairo 56-29 at home. For Ballard Memorial, this counts as revenge for the 55-44 loss Cairo walked away with the last time they faced one another back in November of 2022.
Loss or not, Cairo got some senior leadership from Aaliyah Wilkerson who scored 15 points and Trinty Posey who scored 8 points. Wilkerson scored a full 51.7% of Cairo's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Ballard Memorial's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cairo, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Ballard Memorial will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Mary at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Cairo, they will head out on the road to face off against Martinsville at 6:00 p.m. on December 8th.
