The Warren Warriors will head out on the road to square off against the Stevens Falcons at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. One thing working in Warren's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last five games.
On Saturday, Warren made easy work of Holmes and carried off a 60-35 win. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 contests by 23 points or more this season.
Warren's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Makayla Davis, who shot 50% from the field to rack up 18 points and five steals. That's the most steals Davis has posted since back in January. Another player making a difference was Aniyah Shields, who had 12 points in addition to eight boards and seven steals.
Meanwhile, Stevens took a blow against Taft on Saturday, falling 79-12. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1082nd, while the Raiders are ranked 303rd).
Stevens got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Jaslynn Hernandez and Andrea Ortega, who each put up four points. Player #15 held things down on the boards with four rebounds.
Warren is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 34 points. As for Stevens, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last ten games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-13 record this season.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Warren hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 66.2 points per game. It's a different story for Stevens, though, as they've been averaging only 33.3 points. The only thing between Warren and another offensive beatdown is the Falcons. Will they be able to keep them contained?
Everything came up roses for Warren against Stevens in their previous matchup back in January, as the squad secured a 78-20 victory. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
