Sierra Foothill League recap October 1, 2013
Rocklin scaled the state rankings by moving to 77 from 113 this week, the biggest jump in Sierra Foothill League. The Thunder were able to move up by defeating Inderkum 19-7.
Nevada Union fell to Elk Grove 43-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Dylan Pfadt ran for 37 yards in the loss.
Josh Neal threw for 313 yards and 4 touchdowns. He went 19-27 with 0 interception.
Marc Ellis had a great week catching the football as Granite Bay bested Pittsburg. He caught 14 passes for 214 yards.
Evyn Holtz was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 152 yards on 36 carries as Rocklin bested the Pirates. Teammate Logan Webb added to the ground attack by rushing for 30 yards.
Granite Bay's Neal and Ellis have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Neal has thrown for 793 yards this season, while Ellis has 30 catches for 486 yards. Greg Benzel's team's Holtz leads the league in rushing yards with 452.
Del Oro and Grant played the most contested game in Sierra Foothill League this week, with Del Oro eventually emerging with a 38-35 victory. Michael Moore threw for 223 yards and 4 touchdowns in the win.
