Rodrigo Marquez was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. He has been hot for a while, having posted two or more stolen bases the last ten times he's played.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for The Classical Academy, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They put the hurt on Coronado with a sharp 17-4 win on Saturday. Considering the Titans have won nine matchups by more than eight runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Jackson Finn looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on CJ Mullen, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Another player making a difference was Zack Hale, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
The Classical Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .625. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coronado only posted an OBP of .391.
The Classical Academy's victory was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.9 runs over those games. As for Sierra, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-11.
Wednesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Sierra has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .438. However, it's not like The Classical Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .531. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Sierra suffered a grim 20-0 defeat to The Classical Academy when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Stallions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
