Basketball Recap: Mt. Vernon's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

After flying high against Carmi-White County last Saturday, Mt. Vernon came back down to earth. The Mt. Vernon Wildcats fell 55-46 to the North Posey Vikings on Wednesday. The Wildcats haven't had much luck with the Vikings recently, as the team's come up short the last seven times they've met.

Several Wildcats players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Meyer Robb, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds. Those ten boards gave Robb a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nash Hostetter, who posted 16 points.

It was another big night for Austin Schmitt, who had 18 points for North Posey. Brayden Compton was another key player, putting up ten points.

Mt. Vernon's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 8-8. As for North Posey, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Mt. Vernon didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-39 victory against Tell City on the 31st. As for North Posey, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 52-38 loss against Princeton on the 1st.
