Sarasota has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Parrish Community Bulls at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Sarasota focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Thursday.
After soaring to a 39-point win in their last game, Sarasota came back down to earth on Thursday. They fell just short of Booker by a score of 56-54. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat Sarasota has suffered yet this season.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Sofi Miller, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and five blocks. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last five times she's played. Another player making a difference was Paisley Binswanger, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
In what's become a running theme this season, Parrish Community gave their fans yet another huge win on Thursday. They blew past Bradenton Christian 66-45. Winning may never get old, but Parrish Community sure is getting used to it with their fourth in a row.
Parrish Community had a senior duo take command as Sarah Decker dropped a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds and Mary Portwood scored 19 points. Decker is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Alexis Heuss was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Sarasota's defeat dropped their record down to 12-5. As for Parrish Community, they pushed their record up to 14-5 with that win, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Keep an eye on the arc in Tuesday's matchup: Sarasota have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 6.4 threes per game. It's a different story for Parrish Community, though, as they've been averaging only 1.5 threes per game. Given Sarasota's sizeable advantage in that area, Parrish Community will need to find a way to close that gap.
Everything came up roses for Sarasota against Parrish Community in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 as the squad secured a 71-26 win. With Sarasota ahead 53-17 at the half, the match was all but over already.
