Berwick is 9-1 against Patterson since March of 2021 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Berwick Panthers will be playing at home against the Patterson Lumberjacks at 4:00 p.m. One thing working in Berwick's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last four contests.
On Tuesday, Berwick needed a bit of extra time to put away New Iberia. They blew past the Yellowjackets 24-14. The Panthers' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Madison Diboll was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out 19 batters over 7.2 innings while giving up six earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in strikeouts. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
In other batting news, Addisen Lipari was a standout: she went 4-for-5 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Kumari Nadar was another key player, going 2-for-5 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Berwick was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .476. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .406 or higher in four consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Patterson entered their tilt with St. James on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 9-6 victory over the Wildcats. While the Lumberjacks didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-12), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Mia Knight spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, Jaselynn Haven and Jada Finister did most of the damage at the plate: Haven scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Finister scored a run while going 1-for-3. Finister also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Laiken Chautin, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Berwick is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. Patterson's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-5.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Berwick has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .439. However, it's not like Patterson struggles in that department as they've averaged .498. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Berwick's way against Patterson in their previous meeting last Tuesday, as Berwick made off with a 15-0 victory. Will Berwick repeat their success, or does Patterson have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
