The Bradshaw Mountain Bears will venture away from home to face off against the Paradise Honors Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bradshaw Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
Bradshaw Mountain is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 14 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against Prescott on Wednesday. They took a 6-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Badgers.
Alexa Corey was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she pitched six innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits.
Meanwhile, Paradise Honors had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-1 margin over the Rockets. Considering the Panthers have won 12 matchups by more than eight runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Charlotte Glenn was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in nine consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Marlee Freeman was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Vanessa Colby was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Paradise Honors hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.
Bradshaw Mountain's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5-1. As for Paradise Honors, their record is now 16-2.
Thursday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Bradshaw Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Paradise Honors struggles in that department as they've averaged .425. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Bradshaw Mountain couldn't quite finish off Paradise Honors in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 and fell 6-4. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
