Softball Recap: Kimball Picks Up Sixth Straight Win on the Road

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Kimball and Lincoln had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Jaguars came out on top against the Trojans by a score of 10-6 on Tuesday. The victory continues a trend for the Jaguars in their matchups with the Trojans: they've now won five in a row.

Alexa Contreras was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Kaeliana DePerio and Iolana Faasisila did most of the damage at the plate: DePerio scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4, while Faasisila went 1-for-2 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. Those three runs gave Faasisila a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Karaliya DePerio, who scored a run while going 2-for-4.

Kimball kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Kimball pushed their record up to 11-4 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. The road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Lincoln, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-10 record this season.

Kimball didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 10-6 win against St. Mary's on the 10th. As for Lincoln, they have also already played their next contest, an 11-0 defeat against Tracy on the 10th.
