After a string of ten wins, the Norfolk Christian Ambassadors's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 58-33 walloping at the hands of Catholic. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Norfolk Christian has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Norfolk Christian had strong showings from Christal Harris, who scored 11 points, and Abuna Ruop, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Ruop is on a roll when it comes to blocks, as she's now posted two or more in the last nine games she's played. Jazlyn Hubbard was another key contributor, scoring three points along with two blocks.
Norfolk Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 16-6. As for Catholic, they pushed their record up to 18-6 with that win, which was their seventh straight at home.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Norfolk Christian will square off against Cape Henry Collegiate at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Norfolk Christian is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Cape Henry Collegiate in Virginia (Norfolk Christian is ranked 26th, while Cape Henry Collegiate is ranked 240th). As for Catholic, they will head out on the road to square off against Hampton Roads Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hampton Roads Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
