For the second straight game, Lee Williams will face off against Mingus. The Volunteers will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Marauders at 3:45 p.m. Lee Williams is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Lee Williams came up short against Mingus and fell 10-5. The Volunteers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
For Mingus' part, Kaden Pusl made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out nine batters over 6.1 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). That's the most strikeouts Pusl has posted since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Mingus' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Manuel Munoz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Carter Wacker, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Mingus always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .514. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lee Williams only posted an OBP of .303.
Mingus has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Lee Williams, they now have a losing record of 6-7-1.
Friday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Lee Williams has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .441. However, it's not like Mingus struggles in that department as they've averaged .473. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
