Even though the Boling Bulldogs have not done well against the Hempstead Bobcats recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Boling sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 64-61 win over Hempstead. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Hempstead lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Dontae Houston, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and 12 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Houston has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jamari Idlebird, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
The victory got Boling back to even at 9-9. As for Hempstead, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-12.
Boling will be playing in front of their home fans against Hitchcock at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Hitchcock's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matches. As for Hempstead, they will head out on the road to challenge East Bernard at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
