Softball Recap: Downey Beats Lynwood for Their Fourth Straight Win

Downey never let their opponents score on Monday. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Lynwood Knights. Considering the Vikings have won 11 matchups by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Karelly Iniguez and Daysi Batres did most of the damage at the plate: Iniguez went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Batres got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Batres a new career-high. Serenity Rivas was another key player, earning two runs and one stolen base.

Downey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They are 12-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The win was the fourth in a row for Downey, bringing their record up to 18-9. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.5 runs over those games. As for Lynwood, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-13-1.

Downey wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 4-0 loss against Gahr on the 6th. As for Lynwood, they have also already played their next game, a 15-0 defeat against Warren on the 6th.
