The New Caney Eagles will be playing in front of their home fans against the College Park Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. College Park took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on New Caney, who comes in off a win.
After only six points in their last contest, New Caney made sure to put some points up on the board against Cleveland on Friday. New Caney breezed by Cleveland on the road to the tune of 58-20. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 42-0.
New Caney can attribute much of their success to Hunter Taylor, who threw for 146 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Dravon Wilson, who picked up 59 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, College Park's recent rough patch got a bit rougher last Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 37-27 to Oak Ridge.
Despite the loss, College Park got a solid performance out of Conner Dunphy, who picked up 240 receiving yards and a touchdown. Dunphy's longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Rodrigo Bravo jr was another key contributor, throwing for 224 yards and two touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes.
New Caney's win bumped their record up to 4-4. As for College Park, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5.
New Caney beat College Park 27-17 in their previous meeting back in October of 2022. Will New Caney repeat their success, or does College Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
