Baseball Recap: Wood River Has No Trouble Against Bear Lake

Wood River won the last time they faced Bear Lake and things went their way on Saturday too. The Wolverines put the hurt on the Bears with a sharp 8-2 win. Considering the Wolverines have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Alex Golub, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. What's more, he posted three RBI, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Simon Morgan was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

Wood River has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Bear Lake, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wood River will face off against Burley at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wolverines' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bobcats have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season. As for Bear Lake, they are taking a road trip to take on American Falls at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
