Basketball Game Preview: Legacy Lightning vs. Erie Tigers

Legacy has gone 4-0 against Erie recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Legacy Lightning are taking a road trip to challenge the Erie Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Legacy is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed by Longmont to the tune of 79-43 on Tuesday. The Lightning pushed the score to 59-31 by the end of the third, a deficit the Trojans had little chance of recovering from.

Jaedon Ward was his usual excellent self, going 10 for 15 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Ari Harpring was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 16 points and nine boards.

Legacy was working as a unit and finished the game with 25 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Erie, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They walked away with a 58-49 win over Skyline on Tuesday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

Legacy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 10-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Erie, they now have a winning record of 8-7.

Legacy beat Erie 65-53 in their previous matchup back in December of 2024. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Erie's Callen Gebhardt, who posted 21 points along with six assists and four steals. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Legacy still be able to contain Gebhardt? There's only one way to find out.
