The Fernandina Beach Pirates were the 65-61 winner over the Baker County Wildcats when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Fernandina Beach took a 49-42 hit to the loss column at the hands of Baker County on Friday. Fernandina Beach has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Fernandina Beach still got an impressive performance from Chase Landtroop, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrence Jones, who scored seven points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Baker County to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jackson Carver, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Carver has scored all season. Anthony Washington was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Fernandina Beach's loss dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Baker County, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-9.
Fernandina Beach's homestand continues as they prepare to take on KIPP Bold City at 7:30 p.m. on January 16th. Baker County won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Union County at 7:30 p.m. on January 13th. Union County is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.4 points per game.
