Tristan Johnson of Hayes Center ran for the longest rushing play in D2 District 8 (8 Man) this season against Hitchcock County USD last week. Johnson ran for 61 yards on the play and finished with 177 on the day as his team bested the Falcons.
Medicine Valley extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Wallace, 58-8. The win marks seventh in a row for the the Raiders.
Medicine Valley's dynamic duo of Riley Garey and Lucas Gleisberg proved tough for the Wildcats to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Garey threw for 128 yards and two touchdowns and Gleisberg had 97 yards receiving. Chase Barthel helped Medicine Valley's passing attack out by catching one ball for 13 yards.
6-foot-1 quarterback Zach Mann of Brady is the league leader in passing yards this season with 982. He has also thrown six touchdowns. On the ground, Hayes Center's Seth Gohl has rushed for 758 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Gleisberg. The Medicine Valley star has 27 catches for 568 yards.
A big matchup in D2 District 8 (8 Man) this week will be when Dusty Gaston's team takes on Scott Johnsen's team. The Cardinals are in third place, while the Raiders are in first place.
There should be lots of points scored when Hayes Center and Medicine Valley face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Cardinals comes in having scored 293 this season, while the Raiders have scored 406. Hayes Center scored 63 points last week as it bested Hitchcock County USD.
The Cardinals led the league in scoring this week after putting up 63 points on Jarod Albers' team. Johnson threw for 68 yards and one touchdown in the win.
