Softball Recap: Mckinney Boyd Wins Going Away Against Plano East

McKinney Boyd hadn't done well against Plano East recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The McKinney Boyd Broncos blew past the Plano East Panthers 17-6. Considering the Broncos have won eight games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison Treadwell made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, McKinney Boyd got a massive performance out of Addyson Lewis, who scored four runs and stole Four bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases Lewis has posted over her last 16 contests. The team also got some help courtesy of Beckham Manley, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.

McKinney Boyd kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matches.

McKinney Boyd's win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 10-7. As for Plano East, they moved to 12-6 with that loss, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coincidentally, McKinney Boyd and Plano East will both be playing Rock Hill the next time they take the field. McKinney Boyd will head out to face Rock Hill at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Plano East will host them at 7:15 p.m. on March 11th.
